Always Be Junior

On life-long learning.

As we climb up the career ladder with higher pay grades and more responsibilities, we expect ourselves to know stuff. We get better and faster sifting through the noise, comparing new data against our knowledge, experiences and world view. We become quick in responding to anything that comes our way.

What we lose on that path, however, is a sense of curiosity. The ability to just not know. The exhilarating feeling of being new to a topic. To play without judging or being judged.

We can try to hold on to this feeling through a couple of principles.

Principles of a Junior

  • Try before you look stuff up
  • Look stuff up before you ask
  • Ask before you botch it
  • Juniors help other Juniors grow and excel regardless of office politics
