On swapping free time for human relationships

We’ve all seen the posts on Linkedin, Twitter and Instagram from people and companies: “We’ve decided to introduce a four-day week company-wide”. Often with the addition: “This works for us because it allows us to focus on being more efficient”.

Meetings are canceled, free time is packed with tasks. Everything to use the remaining time more efficiently.

It sounds good in theory, but I keep coming back to questions.

  • How do you still find time for interpersonal matters?
  • How do companies maintain space to wander off in thought?
  • Where do random events take place?
  • How can we create a better work-life balance without trading it for much-needed human relationships?

No answers so far.
